Hi, thank you for sharing your story.

I like this video and the user interface; it is smooth and easy to understand. Very well done. I love your graphics and sprites; it is a clever way to tell the story. :) The colours you here match your theme very well and add mood to your story. Very well done.

General Feedback:

This is a comprehensible, easy to navigate eBook prototype.
I really enjoy the fact, that the text gets highlighted as the voiceover continues. The user really gets guided through the story.
It is an interesting take to have to start the animation on your own accord. While normally it would support to tell the tale, I like that you can play it whenever you like and can chose between having it run simultaneously to the story or afterwards.

Since I did do the background, I will only really give feedback to the icons and other UI elements. The colors are okay. They are neutral and don't distract from the story, but also don't support it. It's nice to keep everything contained, but personally I would use more brownish and muted colors.
The icons are nice and I can tell what they do just by looking at them. I did not really need to check the question mark because I'm unsure what for example the play button would do.
They could be a bit more cleaner, especially the narrator one, but all in all great icons for the prototype.
The normal text font is okay, but I despise the title font. It is not a bad font per se, but it does not work together well with the other UI elements. The font feels to extravagant to be in a blue box.  I would take a simple bold sans-serif font. It should still have the characteristics of "this is a title" but it should be able to be combined with the overall User Interface.
Perhaps use the current text font as a title font and look for another font for the text.

All in all this is a great prototype and I can't wait to see how this will go.

Hello Deezy,

First of all, thanks for drawing the background sprites!

Now to your feedback, I accept your thoughts about my chosen colours. When I created the paper prototype, I wanted to set the focus on the winter theme, but as the prototyping phase progressed, I saw my mistake. I mean the colours are not bad but could be better.

I wanted to use old German fonts, so my choice of fonts ended at the selected one. Finding good, old, free-to-use fonts was difficult without pointing directly to our worse history.

Thanks for your feedback!

Cheers,

G.

General Feedback:

Hi Giona,

You have created a fantastic eBook prototype; the interactive elements are amazing. The sound effects are clear and crips, the voice over matches the progression of the text boldening.  The graphical elements, especially the title page, enhance the user experience through UX design principles and models.

The only things that detract from the user’s experience is the repeated interactive visual that all your story pages consist of, making a bit repetitive in terms of visual appeal. Additionally, the white writing can be a little hard to see initially, however one the writing turns black it is completely legible.

Overall, I can see you have put a massive amount of work into this prototype, your abilities within the Unity program far exceed my own and I look forward to seeing the finished product.

Kind regards,

Hello Jackson,

Thank you for your feedback!
As I already said in the tutorial, and as you see, the sprites for the other sites were still missing on the day you looked at the eBook. They are included in the current version.

I know the white text is not good to read, but this is on purpose because the reader should read along with the narrator. If you toggle the narrator sound, you will see that the text changes the colour to the right colour per page.

Thanks again for your feedback.

Hello Chloe,

Thanks for your feedback.

I will respond to your recommendations here:
When you looked at the eBook, there were no sprites except the one on the start page, which had changed. So maybe you want to update your feedback regarding this.

I like that you saw that I used Gestalt design principles. I intended to use them and did so, but you are the first person talking about it. I aimed to reduce the reader's cognitive load, and you proved that it worked.

You named the right audience for my eBook, so I am happy that I could correctly create an eBook that targeted the audience I wanted.

Your concerns are right about the text size. The size is between 36px and 38px, depending on the amount of text. The first thing I did after inserting the text was test it on my mobile device, and it looked good. Also, I asked my family, which mainly uses mobile devices, to give me some feedback about the text size, and all agreed that the size was appropriate.

Thank you very much for your feedback!

Have a nice day

G.
